Gary is doing the shape carving on a design in the one of the sandblast rooms. Shape carving is adding the curve and depth to a leaf or etc. and is done by hand, taking a special skill to get the appropriate shaping.
Gary is Diamond Etching a mink onto a black monument. Diamond Etching is a fine detail engraving done by hand with a diamond needle process.
Gary Shafer is designing a monument on the computer, the customer gets to approve the layout of their monument shown to them in proportion before it's engraved.
We are proud to say that the designing, engraving, and even the placement of your memorial is done by the Shafer family members with the help of some loyal employees. This means that a personal pride is shown in all of our work. This is the completed monument that was being designed on the computer above. It is a 36 x 24" India Mist granite monument.
Gary is pulling stencil to get a unit ready to go into the sandblast room. Sandblasting lettering is a multi-step process.
Gary Shafer, Rick Swank and Mike Caylor are working in the cemetery. They had placed the monument on the cement foundation and were now working to get the final level and sealing of the unit. We are proud to say that at Shafer Memorials we do our own placment of the units that we design and engrave ourselves. We don't pay a third party to do our engraving or our placements. We feel that keeping those details completed by us gives our clients peace of mind that we took a personal pride in getting their unit completed and in the cemetery.
